Module based learning at CODE has various advantages like:

  • CODE formulates a curriculum containing modules, taught in a sequence keeping pace with the intellectual growth of an individual .
  • Each module is essentially self-contained, planned with pre determined learning objectives and delivered by a team of subject experts from the industry and academics.
  • Regularly modified Delivery modules keeping in pace with the students needs, ability and achievements.
  • Industrial visits and workshops modules planned at regular intervals to understand various parameters of design through personal experience, exposure to the recent trends and exploring possibilities of various materials and techniques.
  • Opportunities for personal grooming and skill development through the consultancy and mentorship program .

The Teaching process at CODE designed as  modules, divided into semesters is designed to nurture all senses and abilities of a student to become a successful designer. The continuously mentored process takes care of personal and intellect growth of an individual striving towards becoming a complete professional.

1st Year- Orientation and Introduction to Design discipline

2nd Year- A Designer’s Languages

3rd Year- Processes of Design

4th Year- Prototyping and Testing

5th Year- (for Architecture) A Debut to the Profession

Design deals with fundamental issues of users, cities and societies, and not only materials, processes and aesthetics.

Critical thinking is important. The student must be given the tools to critically evaluate the world he/she lives in.

The FIRST YEAR curriculum at CODE works on developing the cognitive capacities of a student and provides him with the basic exposure and experience to understand and accept the academic process and the discipline of design.

The curriculum is designed to educate the students on the following aspects:

  • What is a work of Design?
  • How Designed different from and related to natural environment?
  • Various parameters the shape a Design.
  • What is a design discipline?
  • Various skills and abilities required by a professional and How our tools of the curriculum (subjects taught as part of course) will be helpful to develop his/her abilities towards accepting the discipline.

A pupil needs to be trained for HIS SKILLs. Various skills possessed by an individual are unique and  need to be identified and further honed. The curriculum for  Second year has been designed keeping in consideration the importance of various skills that are required from the physical and cognitive domain. Sessions focusing on Improving the hand skills, using simple and intelligent machines, developing communication skills and understanding the available resources and their properties from the part of the syllabus.

The course pattern is a  semester based program comprising of  around 120 working days with-

  • 100 days for Academic Exchange activities divided in various modules.
  • 20 days for conducting Examinations including 2 Mid term and 1 End Term Examination.

The Marking Scheme follows the ratio of 50% Internal to 50% External marking for each Semester.(Designed as per UGC , COA and VGU regulations).

 

The Continuous Assessment Scheme for Internal Grading, at the end of each Module helps strengthen the ongoing learning process and further facilitates the students to predetermine and achieve identified milestones.
